The ES4649 is a 48 port Gigabit Ethernet Routing switch. It offers 44 10/100/1000Mbps RJ-45 ports and 4 paired RJ-45/SFP (mini-GBIC) slots with an optional module for 10Gig uplink.. It combines the speed and low cost of a Layer 2 switch with the ability to route at a Layer 3 level and provides comprehensive network management features including: spanning tree protocol, GVRP for VLAN configuration, SNMP, RMON and web management.


The switch offers high performance of gigabit Ethernet at a very attractive price while incorporating industry leading Security features such as ACLs, RADIUS, TACACS+, SSH - Secure Telnet, HTTPS/SSL, and IEEE 802.1x authenticated port security. The 10 Gig optional interface provides the highest level of performance when connecting to a 10 Gigabit Ethernet Backbone.


Increased application performance and better bandwidth utilization can be expected through wirespeed routing with a non-blocking architecture. The Layer 3 routing capability includes RIP I/II, OSPF, IGMP v1/2, DVMRP and PIM-DM and more. All of this helps alleviate unwanted backbone congestion and provides enhanced network security.


The Switch supports enhanced reliability via an optional 19inch Redundant Power Supply unit. This unit can supply redundant power to four ES series Switches from the one unit. A DC power connection links upto 4 ES switches from the redundant master unit. If the power supply fails or Mains supply fails in any one of the 4 connected switches, then the Redundant link cuts in immediately.
