8 Port Gigabit PoE SNMP Switch with LCD Power Monitor
Modern business networks are used for increasingly diverse applications – traditional data
streams, VoIP voice traffic, video output from digital security cameras and remote control devices
to name a few. The range of devices attached to todayÂ’s converged network often need to be
supported not just in terms of data – equipment such as VoIP IP telephones and Wireless Access
Points frequently need to be powered in physical locations where mains power is not available
or difficult to deliver. Providing power to such devices via an Ethernet UTP cable is an elegant and
easy to implement solution.
The POEGEM8T is a latest generation 8 port SNMP Gigabit PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch. The
device is extremely versatile, integrating advanced Ethernet features with the latest PoE
technology. The POEGEM8T supports advanced Ethernet management functions which are
required for use on converged networks. The deviceÂ’s SNMP management includes error
trapping, and QoS, DHCP, Tagged VLAN, Port Trunking, RSTP and IGMP are all supported. The
switch also offers rugged security features including relocatable HTTP port numbering.
As a POE switch, the POEGEM8T supports 5 different classes of PD (Powered Device), over current
protection and a 3 digit 7-segment LED display showing the balanced power load of the whole
system, as well as individual PoE port/load status. The LCD screen greatly simplifies the task of
monitoring the switch and attached PD devices, and is a feature not generally found on this type
of device.
